So…I bought quite a lot of eBooks recently! Although, I think this is okay because they’re not taking up room in my small little bedroom and they’re helping to support marginalized authors (well, a majority of these are anyway). They were all fairly inexpensive, so it’s not a big loss if it turns out that I hate them.
Ida can shift through parallel worlds and this allows her to take alternate paths. One day, she sees herself. This makes her wonder whether she really does have control over her abilities, and whether finding herself is worth losing what she had. It’s more than I would usually spend on an eBook, but I’ve heard really good things about this and I really like the concept of parallel worlds.
Children of Time
I want to try and get into audiobooks, so I bought one alongside this one so I can read it and listen to it at the same time. It’ll make it easier to read, as well, because I really like science fiction but it can get quite difficult to get into due to all the information. It’s about people searching for a new Earth after their last one was destroyed, but when they find one it is not at all what they hoped for and they have to fight for the true heirs of the new Earth.
Cecily lost her soulmate a long time ago and is left with nothing but Caroline’s clockwork heart behind, but Cecily’s resurrection spell is nearly complete. When a cowboy she barely knows is badly injured, she would have to sacrifice a part of the resurrection spell to save her, and abandon all possibility that she would ever see her love again. It sounds absolutely incredible to me, and I’ve heard really good things about Austin Chant as an author.
Sunbolt (The Sunbolt Chronicles Book 1)
This is a book my friend recommended to me. I don’t really know much about it, I just trust their judgement, so here is the synopsis:
The winding streets and narrow alleys of Karolene hide many secrets, and Hitomi is one of them. Orphaned at a young age, Hitomi has learned to hide her magical aptitude and who her parents really were. Most of all, she must conceal her role in the Shadow League, an underground movement working to undermine the powerful and corrupt Arch Mage Wilhelm Blackflame.
When the League gets word that Blackflame intends to detain—and execute—a leading political family, Hitomi volunteers to help the family escape. But there are more secrets at play than Hitomi’s, and much worse fates than execution. When Hitomi finds herself captured along with her charges, it will take everything she can summon to escape with her life.
This is a short, f/f romance and a retelling of Rapunzel. I’ve already read something by M. Hollis before, and I know I like her writing and how cute it is. I also really like retellings, so I know I’m going to like this.
Bad for the Boss (Just for Him Book 1)
I have no idea what this is about, I think it’s a m/m romance, but it was free so, really, why not right? Even if it’s not, I think it’s about a healthy sexual relationship which you don’t really read much in adult literature and sex makes me kind of uncomfortable to read about, but sometimes I really enjoy it so for when that rare appearance arrives I’ll have a book for that!
A book on feminism! I’ve heard a lot of good things about this and it was going for really cheap, so I just got it. I’ll eventually get around it, but it’s not really taking priority at the moment because I have so many cool things I want to get to first.
Another book people keep talking about! It’s a queer, science-fiction book and…that’s literally all I know about. It’s not often I come across someone who doesn’t like it, though, so I have high hopes for this!
Love, Hate and Other Filters
This is another book everyone keeps talking about so, when someone tweeted that it was going for 99p, I absolutely had to. I’m still not entirely sure what this is about, but I know it’s something along the lines of romance and Islamophobia. I also know that it’s young adult.
so there you have it! I recommend checking Amazon if you’re interested in any of these books, as I bought them fairly recently so they might still be on sale/at a low price. I will let you know how these books were when I read them (whenever that will be!)
