What I Read in May ’18

Spoiler alert…what I read in May was pretty damn small. In my defence, it’s been busy with college and I’ve been in such a reading slump for a while now. I’m hoping that, for June, I should have more free time and hopefully energy so I can read more than I did this month!

Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda
Becky Albertalli

This was a re-read in preparation for Becky’s new book, seeing as that one is technically the sequel to this one! I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time I read it, I think Simon is a super adorable character.

Leah on the Offbeat
Becky Albertalli

I have a full review for this book written up here if you want (slightly) more details. To summarise, though, I really enjoyed this and I found Leah a highly relatable character. I think her anxiety was written in a really realistic way.

Girl, Interrupted
Susanna Kaysen

I went into this not knowing that it was a non-fiction book based on Susanna’s real life experiences being hospitalized with borderline personality disorder. I really like the insight into the disorder, which I think is something we don’t really get to see very often. It was a bit messy, as in it wasn’t in chronological order, but I still managed to kind of follow what was being said. It was pretty good, though.

And…that’s all I managed to read this month…

Yep, pitiful!

But, like I said, I aim to do better for June!

Until next time,
