Dealing with Meltdowns
Honestly? I don’t really have meltdowns anymore. I used to have them all the time when I was still living with my mum but they toned down around eighteen or nine teen maybe? My meltdowns nowadays are just completely shutting down and being really quiet or just…crying. A lot.
The way I cope with being overwhelmed is by using stim toys, reading, watching a favourite show of mine, being around my comfort items, listening to music, taking a shower, scrolling down social media, spending time with animals (especially my own)…over the years, I’ve developed so many coping methods that I couldn’t even tell you what they are now. They’re as natural to me as breathing.
